Our Youth Programs

#ImpactTheFuture

St. Albert Soccer Association is committed to providing a variety of programs for all our members. Within our youth program, we have something for everyone. We offer everything from U4 all the way up to our Adult programming. In addition to those programs, we also offer Skill Development Training programs to support the advancement of the individual player as they grow from season to season.

Our house league program consists of players who participate in our U4 program up to our U11 program. The games are played within the City of St. Albert at age appropriate sized fields, including the size of the goals.

Active Start U4/U5/U6 Program

This program focuses on introducing young athletes to the sport. Through a curriculum based training program, we look to develop the ABC's of movement with and without a soccer ball through station rotations.

Fundamental U7/U9 Program

These program are designed around ensuring players are given maximum time on the ball through ball mastery skill development, 1v1 activities and small sided games.

Learning to Train U11 Program

The goal of this program is to develop the training habits of these athletes as they progress in their soccer development. Developing these skills helps transition these players from our Fundamentals program into our Soccer for Life programs.

Skill Centre Programs

This program is for those young athletes who have an early love of the game or an early aptitude and are looking for more contact time with the ball.

Overseen by SASA's Foundation Phase Manager, players will train twice a week. The Skill Centre is a program where players are grouped into divisions A, B, or C. Rosters are compiled with the intention of open movement and players are not locked into a specific team.

Tier 1 - 3 Program

SASA offers players the opportunity to train and develop in a highly competitive environment from U11 to U19, in Tier 1 and Tier 2. Our teams compete in external leagues that best fit their competitive development.

Players are selected through the player placement process, taking into consideration the player's developmental stage. Once placed on a team, players will be provided with the appropriate training environment to help them elevate their game, both individually and as a team.

Tier 4 - 7 Program

SASA is committed to ensuring all players who are not placed in our Tier 1-3, through our Player Placement Process, a spot on one of our Tier 4-7 teams.

These teams train once a week at a minimum and play 1 to 2 games a week, depending on the external schedule. All practices are scheduled in St. Albert, while games can be played within the Edmonton Area, including St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Beaumont, Leduc, or Fort Saskatchewan.

This program is designed to meet the needs of players with the desire to train and perform at the highest youth level possible.  The Player Performance Pathway that these athletes enter offers many aspects that will provide elements for them to meet their needs in achieving participation at the highest level.  Framework for the competition element of this program is suggested to include scouting events monitored by Canada Soccer as well as direct opportunities to be viewed by professional clubs and accredited post-secondary institutions.

Additional Programming

During the season, we offer Keeper Training for all registered Impact Players looking to develop their goalkeeping skills.

We are committed to providing coaches with the resources necessary to develop their Coaching Voice through inhouse coaching in-services and Grassroots courses provided by Alberta Soccer.

As the game progresses through time, so do the demands of the athletes involved. Our Sport Science Program has been developed to assist and guide St. Albert Impact players to achieve maximal potential in an ever-changing game of soccer.

Our Manager of Sports Science will lead players through our in-house Mental Skills program. We have created 4 modules that provide players with the tools to cope with the stress from the modern game.

As an added resource, teams are able to book our Manager of Sports Science for  presentations on effective Athletic Nutrition.

Impact Centre of Excellence

This program is built for our  U7 athletes who are looking for more out of their soccer experience. This program further builds on the foundational skills learned from within our current House League Program.

All U9 players are able to further develop their skills by registering for this program. Each session focuses on building the individual player's skill through 1v1 and ball mastery activities.

Our U11 players are able to utilize the skills they have developed in previous seasons through age appropriate small group activities.

As the game becomes more complex and cooperative, this program focuses on the mastery of the matches through the effective use of Small Sided Games.
